The popular bedding app Telegram joins the elite club of apps that have been downloaded over 1 billion times globally, writes TechCrunch.
Telegram, which is headquartered in Dubai, was launched at the end of 2013, and on Friday it surpassed the fine milestone.

As is the case with the app's arch-rival, WhatsApp, India is the largest market for Telegram with 22% of all downloads. This is followed by Russia and Indonesia, which represent respectively. about 10% and 8% of all downloads.In 2021, the number of downloads accelerated by about 214.7 million downloads in the first half of 2021, corresponding to an increase of 61% compared to the previous year (133 million downloads in the first half of 2020).
